Door-to-Door Survey

What this survey is for

The City is studying whether a shared, neighbourhood-scale geothermal system could heat and cool homes in Vandalia. Deciding that needs more than engineering. It needs to know how many households would actually take part.

So campaigners are walking Zone 1 and Zone 2 and knocking on all 445 properties on the study list. At each door they find out three things:

• Whether the household is interested in taking part
• What heating and cooling they have now, and roughly how big the house is
• How to stay in touch with them as the study progresses

What the tool does

It shows a satellite map with every study property outlined on its own building. A campaigner taps the house in front of them, sees who the records say owns it, records what happened at the door, and opens the interest form with the name and address already filled in.

It keeps working with no mobile signal, and everything recorded is exported at the end of a shift.

Why it is behind a password

The tool carries residents' names against their addresses, taken from public county property records. That is ordinary public information, but a list of it is worth protecting, so only the study team can open it.

Residents: you do not need to sign in. If a campaigner has called at your door, or you would like to take part, use the interest form instead.
